I can help you find joy in
the journey.

“My greatest joy and happiness has come through serving people; helping others grow and discover themselves. I am passionate about helping individuals heal from traumatic and stressful life experiences, particularly through using Eye
Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidenced-based therapy. EMDR is a treatment model that assists our brains in healing, being resilient, and integrating maladaptively stored memory networks. I also use other effective
trauma therapies as needed such as Accelerated Resolutions Therapy (ART), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Internal Family Systems, amongst others.

Thus, therapy, particularly EMDR can help build positive neuropathway connections and repair maladaptive connections. Connecting with one another, oneself, one’s sense of spirituality, and community supports are integral aspects in the healing process. Connections can imply having a sense of being part of a system and bringing to mind a picture of a circle of inclusion. Therefore, to illustrate my perspectives of healing, I selected the name:

Connections Trauma Recovery… A Counseling and Consultation Service.

Rebecca Laws, LCMHC, EMDRIA Approved Consultant

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with Masters Degrees in Mental Health Counseling and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology and Certificates in Substance Abuse Counseling and Medical Transcription.

Prior to specializing in trauma, I learned the value of society, working in macro and micro-systems. My background in sociology contributed to my style of therapy. That being said, I value all the dynamics that contribute to who we are and how we see the world. Of particular influence on people, is the family system, generally setting the stage for one’s part in the play of life.

As a trauma therapist, I have specializations in various modalities to assist individuals with diverse backgrounds. I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant who specializes in
treating survivors of abuse, Complex PTSD, medical/disability trauma, and those with single trauma incidents.

I specialize in helping abuse victims, particularly women who are seeking to overcome trauma, anxiety, depression, and dysfunctional or unhealthy family dynamics. I also
specialize in helping individuals heal from attachment injuries, that often exist when one has experienced relationship trauma. I am a licensed mental health therapist with many years of experience in treating survivors of sexual abuse.
